Nicky + Sam

We met Nicky and Sam at last year’s wedding show, and had an excited email from Nicky by the time we got home asking us to photograph her wedding – well, ok, if we must!

The countdown has been from a year, to months, to weeks, to days and finally the day arrived. With a wedding on a cliff edge and Wellingtons weather, we were preparing ourselves for a beautifull windswept day, and hoping for sun.

Well, sun we got and the day was dead still. Not a hint of wind. The ocean was like a millpond. Amazing. Especially since the following weekend was apparently gusting storms. What a blessing!

We headed out to Boomrock to have a look around in the morning, what a gorgeous location! We were suitably excited as we turned up to Brides Home to greet an even more excited bride with her fantastic bridesmaids.

Nicky gifted each of her bridesmaids with a gorgeous Karen Walker bangle, so cute!

We headed over to the ceremony to photograph the Grooms party and Nick with his family – what a fabulous group of people, such fun!

Their ceremony was beautiful, with the mothers handing Nicky and Sam their rings, and Nicky’s sister surprising her with a family heirloom horseshoe that had been restored, and is passed on to every woman that is married in her family – now it is Nicky’s turn to pass it on. So beautiful.

We headed down the road to take some photos in the cool of the valley (it was so HOT!), with the fabulous staff at Boomrock ensuring that the bridal party stayed fed and hydrated. We let the bridal party go back and freshen up and zoomed around with Nicky and Sam taking photos in just a few of the 20 places we wanted to shoot in but didn’t have time – what a beautiful location, we could have hung out taking creative photos all day!

Back at Boomrock, we listened to hilarious and heartfelt speeches, with Sam’s groomsmen surprising them with a guest appearance by Barnaby of The Black Seeds and Fly My Pretties who sung them the most amazing song, which we managed to video for them as well. Sam reckons he’s never been speechless in his life, so take note Nicky! 😉

We left them dancing the night away, but not before a few quick ‘photobooth’ style photos with friends on the dancefloor!

Congratulations Nicky & Sam, we had a blast! Let’s do it again sometime…. 😉
