Winter weddings – they’re not as popular as the warmer months but we always look forward with great anticipation to them! Hannah + Ben were married at Kumeu Valley Estate at the beginning of July + it was a beautiful day. We’d been so excited for Hannah + Ben to get married, ever since we’d met them after they narrowly missed out on winning the NZ Weddings Win Your Dream Wedding last year (see their engagement photos here).
Hannah is a creative + very talented art teacher so it was no surprise that every aspect of the day was thought out perfectly. She even put some hours in at her school’s pottery workroom creating a little pot for each of their guests! They were insanely cute. We started the day out with the girls, where before long Hannah was in tears after opening a gift from Ben – a diamond ring he’d bought for her many years previously and saved for their wedding day! The girls looked stunning, especially Hannah in her gorgeous gown from Hera Bridal and her Bo + Luca headpiece was the perfect finishing touch. In order to allow the maximal time with their guests, Hannah + Ben opted for a first look before the ceremony, which happened at Muriwai, on the path towards the Gannet Colony. Those first moments are so filled with anticipation + emotion, it’s always an exciting time! Kudos to the bridal party (particularly the bare-armed girls) who braved the cold with smiles on their faces too. We are loving the romantic portraits of Hannah + Ben snuggled up together with the blanket, that is for sure a uniquely winter wedding photograph! And you most definitely can’t go wrong with having photographs looking down towards Muriwai beach, it never fails at providing a timeless backdrop, and Hannah + Ben’s day was no exception. Highlights of the rest of the day included the look on Ben’s face as his bride walked down the aisle, them both tearing up over heartfelt vows, and the rain beginning just as the ceremony ended (our luck with weather is nothing short of a miracle), a confetti cannon, cake being thrown,and one very in love, newly married couple. Hannah + Ben, congratulations! Enjoy x
