This is why i take family photos

I wanted to share with you this beautiful family, who got married back in September 2010. I photographed their engagement, wedding, and in January 2014, when they welcomed their daughter into the world, I was there to document their newborn session. Later that year, after some pretty scary health issues, we did another shoot of their daughter at around 9 months old. Then in October 2018, they wanted to celebrate their first year with their Home-For-Life foster child – celebrating their anniversary of being a family of 4, and of course, I was there. So we went on and had our coffees and did the shoot, viewing, framing etc. A few weeks or months later – I can’t remember exactly – I received this text, which moved me so much! This is why I do what I do; this is it!

“I was just thinking how grateful I am for your photography skills and figured I would I tell you. Most days I spend some time looking at the photos you have taken of my family as it has grown.

Yes your photos are beautiful keepsakes and will continue to provide me with many beautiful memories, especially as we age. But also your photos hold me to account around today! Whom I get to love.

But mostly they convince me, right in the thick of a screaming, irrational yelling fit from my hurting 3 yr old that there is hope; that she can smile; that she fits with us. These photos ARE my parenting coach!” – Anna

I hope when you look at your photos hanging on the walls you know whom you love, and who loves you. I hope they give you strength when times are rough. I hope they give you a breath of fresh air when life seems so busy! And even when wrinkled and aged they will take you back to that moment in an instant.
