Saturday’s forecast looked pretty dreary, but we’d been keeping our fingers crossed that the forecasted rain wouldn’t make an appearance. We arrived at Lichfields where the boys were getting ready, and the sun was out in full force! We couldn’t believe our luck, and neither could everyone there, and we all willed the good weather to continue. The boys were excited, though Matt was beginning to get a little bit nervous… We photographed them and their action hero socks, before heading over to Wild at Heart to see Geri and her girls. Seeing her dress from Astra Bridal hung up on the window made us even more excited and when she was finally in it, she looked incredible. We knew Matt would have a hard time fighting back any tears once he saw her for the first time 😉
By the time the ceremony was due to begin at Soljan’s Estate Winery in Kumeu, the rain had unfortunately made itself well and truly at home. The heavy downpour forced the ceremony indoors, but it didn’t change anything – they exchanged vows in a ceremony lead by Chris Mullane, and became husband and wife, just as the rain slowed to a halt, meaning we could continue with all of our photos outdoors! It was a miracle, and we’re still just so thankful that Geri + Matt got to get all of the vine photos they’d so liked.
Some heartfelt speeches and delicious food preceded the first dance, after which we left the happy couple and their guests to enjoy into the night.
Geri + Matt, congratulations again, it was a special day to be with you for, and we’ll see you in February for Megan + Orrin’s wedding!
